A series of 46 paintings around the subject of childhood and family dynamics as a book.

From the introduction by Marius von Brasch:

"The work developed into an exploration of childhood and family dynamics drawing upon my own experience as both painter and psychotherapist...
The title refers to Freud's controversial concept of the Oedipus complex as a crucial psychological process in the early stages of childhood, or, more specifically in this case, boyhood.
This period raises questions about the nature of masculinity and is characterised by strong desire and devoted love, rivalry, jealousy and anxiety and a wish to 'rule' ones parents...

The child in this series is both the observer and the observed, observation taking place both inside and outside of his world. These shifting perspectives are amplified through the use of imagery belonging to the visual language of the subconscious mind.

Oedipus Diving refers to elements shared by Sophocles' play and Freud's concept of the Oedipus complex...

Both myth and modern theory of psychosexual development raise questions around the genesis of masculinity and lead us to examine the concept and reality of gender images, their influence on power structures."

A beautifully designed and printed art book.
